Blue Podoboos are a blue variant of Podoboo that appear as enemies in Super Princess Peach and Super Mario 3D World as well as the latter game's remake, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Sometimes they have additional abilities, such as being able to home in on a target, but in most games they behave almost identically to a standard Podoboo, just faster and jumping out of Blue Lava.

Super Princess Peach

A Singular Blue Podoboo

Blue Podoboos first appear in Super Princess Peach as enemies appearing in Bowser's Villa. They hop out of blue lava and will home in on you when they see you. They can only be defeated either by running into them (which causes damage) or by luring them into a goblet which can also be used to open the path forward.

Super Mario Galaxy series

Although Blue Podoboos are absent in the Super Mario Galaxy games, a similar creature called the Lava Bouncer appears.

Blue Podoboos from Super Mario 3D World.

In the Wii U game, Super Mario 3D World and it's Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Blue Podoboos are more common than they were in Super Princess Peach. There are now stages dedicated to blue lava and the Blue Podoboos one example being Castle-4: Boiling Blue Bully Belt. Blue Podoboos can no longer be defeated. Also, unlike Super Princess Peach, Blue Podoboos no longer home in on Mario or his friends. Instead, they now leap faster than a standard Podoboo (and sometimes higher too).

  • In the minigame Hot Rope Jump, from Mario Party 2 and Mario Party Superstars, there are Podoboos that appear to be blue at the start of the minigame but these aren't the same Blue Podoboos because it is shown that they can change their color throughout the minigame.
