Blue Goombas are a blue sub-type of Goomba commonly found in Ghost Houses in New Super Mario Bros. 2. They have the same name as Blue Goombas from Paper Mario, but are a different species.
Blue Goombas behave very similarly to a basic Goomba, but their walking speed is slightly different, matching that of the Bone Goomba. Blue Goombas are found in World Flower-Ghost House, World 6-Ghost House, and several courses in Coin Rush. Just like regular Goombas, running into one will cause damage, they can be defeated with jumps or the effects of a Fire Flower, Super Leaf, Gold Flower, Starman, Mega Mushroom, or Invincibility Leaf. When Mario (or Luigi) hits a Gold Ring, the Blue Goombas briefly become Gold Goombas.

- Blue Goombas are similar to the Gloombas from the Paper Mario series however the Gloombas commonly inhabit caves while Blue Goombas are commonly seen in Haunted Houses.
- Blue Goombas are similar to the Blue Goombas found in the caves of Super Mario Bros. however these Goombas are considered standard Goombas (like the Gray Goombas found in the Castles) as their coloration change is due to the little space remaining on the game's memory disc.
