Boo Man Bluff is an enemy which first appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Boo Man Bluff is a variant of Boo that wears a black blindfold, preventing them from being able to see. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Boo Man Bluffs are depicted as mid-sized peach-colored Boos with a green mouth and short, stubby arms.

In Yoshi's Story, Boo Man Bluffs are colored white and were given large pink ears, although they now lack arms and no longer have a green mouth. Their blindfold color was also changed to light-blue.

For Super Princess Peach, the design from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island was reinstated, but the Boo Man Bluffs are still white and lack a green mouth like in Yoshi's Story.

Behavior[]

Because they are blindfolded, Boo Man Bluffs rely on sound to figure out where a Yoshi is, something that Yoshi's Story emphasizes by giving it ears. In Super Princess Peach, they appear in swarms.

In Yoshi franchise[]

Blindfolded Boos act similarly as in their first appearance. Boo Man Bluffs first appear in the level Shriek Mansion 3-3. They are only encountered as an impenetrable swarm, and their movement causes the screen to move. Despite being blindfolded, a Boo Man Bluff's behavior is affected if Princess Peach looks at them, in which case they hide, while continuing to chase her. If Peach touches a Boo Man Bluff, she is forced to restart the room she is in. The Boo Man Bluffs stop chasing Peach once she leads them into light, causing them to vanish. In later levels, Boo Man Bluff are much quicker, and Peach can only escape from them using the Gloom vibe.

Boo Man Bluff are one of the few enemies to not appear in the Glossary.
