The Black Jibberjay is a Jibberjay and a character who appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2. He is the fastest of the Jibberjays as well as their leader. He races Mario on two separate occasions, and he and the other Jibberjays send Mario a letter, inviting him to do so beforehand each time.
In Super Mario Galaxy 2[]
The Black Jibberjay is first encountered in the Wild Glide Galaxy. He is raced during the mission Jungle Fluzzard Race, in which Mario has to ride Fluzzard to the finish line at the end before Black Jibberjay and the other Jibberjay contestants in order to win. When Mario wins, the Black Jibberjay rewards Mario with a Power Star as a trophy and declares him the new leader of the Jibberjays.
Mario races the Black Jibberjay a second time in the Fleet Glide Galaxy, during the mission Fastest Feathers in the Galaxy. Unlike last time, Mario only races the Black Jibberjay, not the other Jibberyjay racers. When Mario wins again, the Black Jibberjay gives him another Power Star.
