Mario Party

Billistics is a Free-for-All mini-game found in Mario Party 9.

Layout[]

The minigame takes place on top of a tall tower in a desert-like environment.

Opening[]

A part of a high tower is shown, then the view goes up, showing Bullet Bills being fired near it, until reaching the top, where the characters are.

Gameplay[]

The characters have to avoid touching the Bullet Bills as they charge at them from multiple directions. Aside from Bullet Bills, which travel in a straight line, there are also Missile Bills, which home in on a character. Over time, an increasing number of Bullet Bills appear at once, and any Bullet Bills that crash into each other explode. If a character touches a Bullet Bill, they are eliminated. Whoever is the last character remaining or any characters remaining by the end of the 60-second time limit is the winner.

Billistics also has a Reverse Minigame variation, which has an opposite objective of trying to be taken out by a Bullet Bill first.

Billistics Perspective Mode

Billistics in Perspective Mode

In Perspective Mode, Billistics is the penultimate minigame. In it, there is the disadvantage of not being able to pay full attention to any Bullet Bills approaching from behind.

Ending[]

If the minigame ends with only one character remaining, they perform their victory animation. In the Reverse Minigame variation, after a Bullet Bill hits a character, the remaining characters stand idle.

Flavor text[]

  • Rules (Normal): Dodge the incoming Bullet Bills until you are the last player standing. Be careful: flashing Bullet Bills will home in on you!
  • Rules (Reverse): Be the first player to get hit by an incoming Bullet Bill!
  • Controls: Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Press +Control Pad to move.

Etymology[]

Billistics is a pun of "ballistics," a word meaning the flight characteristics of a projectile.
