Big Paint Stars are differently colored stars that reside in the Prisma Fountain. They are scattered all over Prism Island, and Mario must find them all to defeat the final boss, Black Bowser.

- Big Paint Stars are a callback to Shine Sprites from Super Mario Sunshine.
- There is no indigo Big Paint Star. This is likely because only primary and secondary colors of paint are used.
- Each paint star are actually the same color as the koopalings' wand color, depending on which koopaling is guarding which star. For instance, the yellow paint star is Guarded by Iggy, who has a yellow wand, and Lemmy guards the green paint star, the same color as his wand.
