Big Koopa Troopas, also known as Giant Koopa Troopas, are species of Koopa Troopas. They first appeared in the first level of Giant Land. The player cannot hold their shell, only kicking it.


Super Mario series

Super Mario Bros. 3

Big Koopa Troopas first appear in this game. They are known as Giant Koopa Troopas,[1] and their shells could be hold. They appear in various levels of Giant Land.

Super Mario 64

In Super Mario 64, a friendly-giant looking Koopa Troopa known as Koopa the Quick appears in the game as a friendly racing rival to Mario. He hails from Tiny-Huge Island (an island filled with both miniature and gigantic enemies) but he is the only Big Koopa Troopa seen in the game.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Big Koopa Troopas are very rare, and only 3 can only be found on Supermassive Galaxy. Also, they can only be defeated with a Spin Drill by drilling into their belly from the opposite side of the planet. To do the infinite 1-Up trick, Mario must do a Long Jump on a Big Koopa Troopa so that he catches up with the it each time, he can get 1UPs for every time he stomps onto it, allowing maximum 1UPs to be gained.

New Super Mario Bros. U

After 2 years of absence, Big Koopa Troopas Return in this game. They are very rare, and only appear in the level Jungle of the Giants.

Super Mario Maker

Big Koopa Troopas reappear in this game, which, the player can drag a Super Mushroom to a Koopa Troopa. They act the same like in New Super Mario Bros. U, in all themes.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

Big Koopa Troopas reappear in the remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga replacing the Ankoopas found throughout the game. They have the same dialogue and purpose as the Ankoopas from the original game.
