The Big Burt Bros. are the first boss in Yoshi's Island DS. They are encountered in 1-4: Castle of the Big Burt Bros.. The Big Burt Bros. are large Burts, but their boss fight is based on that of Burt the Bashful's from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

The Big Burt Bros. attempt to defeat Yoshi by jumping around the screen, and sometimes they jump onto one another To defeat them, Yoshi must throw eggs at them. Yoshi can obtain the eggs from an Egg Plant that shoots them in the middle. The only way Yoshi can properly dodge their attacks is by hiding in a steep end. Once both Big Burt Bros. are defeated, they both deflate like balloons and disappear, similar to how Burt the Bashful is defeated in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
