Beetle Mania is an optional minigame in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It is a shooter in which a beetle shoots stars at red Koopa shells.
Layout[]
The minigame utilizes two layouts, one of which is based on the level Yoshi's Island 2 from Super Mario World and another of which depicts a dark green sky with smiling clouds on the upper half. The Yoshi's Island 2 background is shown if either Bowser or Mallow are in the middle slot, while the dark green sky background is shown if either Geno or Princess Toadstool are in the middle slot.
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[]
The minigame can be purchased from the Beetle Mania Toad at the Mushroom Kingdom inn for 500 Coins. Mario has to talk to the Beetle Mania Toad a certain number of times before he is asked if he wishes to buy the minigame. Saying "yes" adds "game" to the 'X' menu.
Etymology[]
The minigame's name references Beatlemania, a pop culture trend revolving around The Beatles.
