This article is about the bean enemy debuting in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. For the bean enemy from Yoshi's New Island with the same name, see here.

A Beanie is an enemy which first appeared in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Game appearances[]

Beanies are green bean-like enemies that can be found in Hoohoo Mountain and Chucklehuck Woods. They also assist Queen Bean during the boss battle inside the castle. When Beanies attack, they run toward Mario or Luigi in a full-charged tackle. Sometimes they trip over before attacking. Like Goombas and Paragoombas, there are also Beanies and Parabeanies. Beanies are often considered to be the equivalent of the Mushroom Kingdom Goombas. They attack just like Goombas, but with a clumsy behavior. In Oho Ocean they appear when Elite Pestnut are destroyed, but they can't be fought. Like most other enemies, Beanies return in the remake Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.

Beanies reappear in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team where they are only seen during a Gold Beanie's charge attack in the Dream World. The Beanies have their stats decreased greatly here, as one hit can destroy them. They also cannot be targeted by standard attacks. The Gold Beanie can hide in one of the regular Beanies where Mario must jump onto it to stun it.
