Beach Volleyball is a Bonus minigame hosted by Mamar in Mario Party 5. It can be played in either single-player or two-player mode.
Layout[]
The minigame takes place at a beach, during a beach volleyball match. Beach Volleyball is heavily based on Beach Volley Folly from Mario Party 4, and it features the same setting. A difference with the setting is that the Kinopio Burger sign was changed to "Kinopio Cafe."
Gameplay[]
The minigame is basically a beach volleyball match featuring two teams, each with two characters, essentially making it a 2-vs.-2 minigame. Aside from a regular volleyball, the player can also choose from a Bob-omb Ball or a Dice Ball.
For the Bob-omb Ball, every time it is hit, including serves, the digit on the ball counts down from 10. When zero is displayed on the Bob-omb Ball's counter, it explodes before the team can hit it, and the opposing team gains a point.
For the Dice Ball, the number on the ball shuffles between one and six, and the number shown on the ball when it hits the sand is the number of points awarded to the scoring team.
Once a team accrues 10 to 20 points, depending on the settings, the minigame ends, and the first team to accomplish this is the winner.
Controls[]
- : Move
- : Hit the ball / Dive
- : Jump
- then : Spike
Flavor text[]
- Mamar: "Beach Volleyball is a Mini-Game competition. Two teams of two kick up sand and battle it out. You can bump or spike the ball back into your opponents' court. To win, all you've gotta do is earn the set number of points first! Oh! Don't forget about the two special volleyballs. They make this a volleyball game unlike any volleyball game you've ever played! Try them out sometime!"
