Mario Party

Beach Volley Folley is a recurring minigame in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party 4 as one of the Extra Room minigames, then in Mario Party: The Top 100 as a Special minigame, and in Mario Party Superstars as a Sports & Puzzles minigame.

While Beach Volley Folly does not appear in Mario Party 5, it received its own variation, Beach Volleyball.

Layout[]

The minigame takes place on a beach. In the background, there are red and blue umbrellas, a yellow-and-green umbrella at the bottom-left corner, and red and blue fences depicting Stars. At the top-left corner is a restaurant called Kinopio Burger, likely where the minigame Order Up takes place, as it also has a graphic named "Kinopio Burger."

Opening[]

A view is shown of a Goomba as a lifeguard sitting on his stool and the sun, then the game camera zooms out to reveal the two teams on each side of the volleyball net.

Gameplay[]

Mario Party 4[]

The minigame pits two teams, each consisting of two characters, against each other in a beach volleyball match. The characters must work their way to the top, facing six other teams along the way. Initially, the minigame only has a Battle Mode, but completing it unlocks Free Mode, allowing up to four players to play together. A birthday cake is also unlocked and placed in the Present Room. The minigame ends when one side reaches five points.

Aside from the normal cast of characters, the minigame has unlockable exclusive characters in Free Mode, including Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Boo, Bowser, and Koopa Kid.

Mario Party: The Top 100 / Mario Party Superstars[]

The base gameplay is the same, but there is now an option to add between 7–21 points. Neither game retains the characters exclusively available in the original Mario Party 4 iteration.
