The Battle Fort is a location which only appears in Super Mario 64 DS. It contains only one secret Power Star, obtained from completing the mission The Secret of Battle Fort. Aside from this, Battle Fort is the fourth course of VS mode.
In Super Mario 64 DS[]
The entrance to Battle Fort is located in the Castle Courtyard, to the back right. The entrance to Battle Fort is obstructed by Bricks, which can be destroyed by any character except Yoshi, so he is the only character who cannot access Battle Fort, except for in VS mode.
Battle Fort is an enclosed area within the sky featuring several blocks, ramps, and platforms. The enemies encountered here include Goombas, Bob-ombs, a Chuckya on a mesh wire platform reachable by climbing a pole, and Heave Hos. Water bombs and iron balls are featured as regular course hazards. Obtaining the course's only Power Star requires the player's character to collect Silver Stars, which can be found from destroying Goombas and iron balls. Once every Silver Star has been collected, the Power Star appears within the Star Sphere.
In VS mode, all enemies and obstacles have been removed except iron balls. Like Sunshine Isles, there are ! Blocks with Wings that can be worn by any character.
