Bats are a type of ghost which appear in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version. They would later be replaced by living bats in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

Physical description[]
Bats are either purple or yellow in color. Aside from this, they do not bear much physical difference to generic bats.
Behavior[]
Like Mice, Bats are generally only found in hallways and around staircases and lack any Health Meter, meaning that Luigi can instantly vacuum a Bat up into his Poltergust 3000. They can also be instantly defeated from ice-, fire-, or water-elemental attack as well. If a Bat hits Luigi, he takes five HP of damage, although the Bat ends up defeating itself in the process.
Purple and yellow Bats each have some difference in behavior. A purple Bat swoops down at Luigi whenever he approaches it, whereas a yellow Bat only attacks if Luigi turns on his Poltergust 3000 near it.
