Basic Training is a recurring microgame in the WarioWare series. It first appears in WarioWare: Twisted! as Dribble and Spitz's boss microgame and then in WarioWare Gold as Dr. Crygor's boss microgame.
Gameplay[]
The player controls two men on a handcar, and the object is to for them to get out of the cave. The first section involves dodging obstacles, which include blocks and holes. In the second section, a giant boulder rolls after the handcar, and the player has to speed up their movement. The third section involves both dodging obstacles and going at a fast enough speed to avoid being crushed. If the characters reach the end, the player wins, but if they fail to avoid obstacles, the player loses at the microgame.
In WarioWare Gold, although the main controls, mechanics, and obstacles are intact, the microgame has been repurposed from an escape sequence into a race sequence. The player controls a yellow handcar, with the same two men as before, and they now have to race against two other handcars. The object is to reach the finish line first to win. In addition, the game adds an extra mission named All Pumped Up, in which the two men have to reach the goal in Level 3 before the in-game clock reaches 21 seconds.
Difficulty levels[]
WarioWare: Twisted![]
- Level 1: There are only a few blocks and one hole.
- Level 2: There are only a few of blocks and four holes.
- Level 3: There are only a few of blocks, some in midair, and three trucks on the track.
WarioWare Gold[]
- Level 1: There are a small number of hurdles and blocks. The opponents are slow.
- Level 2: There are a series of five short hurdles and three tall hurdles that must be passed under, and a series of blocks and a sand pit. The opponents move slightly faster.
- Level 3: There are a series of three hurdles, several blocks, and a sand pit. The men can pick up a power-up that allows them to pass through blocks without slowing down. The opponents move even faster.
