Wario Land

Bandineros are an enemy which appear in Wario Land: Shake It!.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Bandineros are round enemies with two feet resembling pointed sneakers, each having a white stripe on them, and a Bandinero's face consists of yellow eyes and a hooky mouth. The upper half of their body is covered with a mask. Bandineros are featured in different colors, with red being the species' main color. Aside from Red Bandineros, there are also Blue, Yellow, White, and Golden Bandineros.

Aside from body color, Golden Bandineros have a few more physical differences from regular Bandineros, including a black mouth, red eyes, and a dark golden bandana cap.

Behavior[]

Bandineros are very similar to Goombas in that they are round enemies and the weakest enemies encountered. Wario can defeat a Bandinero using any attack, regardless of its color. The behavior varies for the different color variations of Bandineros, although the Red Bandineros act the most similar to Goombas because they only walk back and forth and turn around upon touching a wall. There is a possibility of a Red Bandinero dropping a head of Garlic upon being defeated.

Yellow Bandineros can jump up and down, and some of them move around while doing so. Blue Bandineros are the same as Floating Bandineros but on the ground, specifically if Wario bumps into it. White Bandineros are always found sleeping or dizzy at first, and they hold a big head of Garlic, which a White Bandinero drops if Wario shakes it.

Like every other golden enemy in Wario Land: Shake It!, Golden Bandineros have a lot of golden coins. They appear in levels with the mission objective "Defeat the golden enemy".

Etymology[]

The name Bandinero is a portmanteau of "bandit" and "dinero," which is "money" in Spanish.

Trivia[]

  • The key artwork used for the front cover of both the North American and Australian versions of the Wario Land: Shake It! show Wario shaking a Red Bandinero, causing it to release some coins and a small head of garlic.
