"Bad Rap" is the thirty-second episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the live-action segment "Caught in a Draft."

Plot[]

Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad arrive in Rap Land, where the people are no longer rapping. Upon their arrival they see that the people are being hypnotized into bringing their gold coins to Rappin' Koopa (King Koopa's alias for the episode), who has taken over the radio signals. While trying to figure out what to do, they are approached by the Flab Boys who are unaffected by Rappin' Koopa because of their wearing headphones. The Flab Boys explain what happened and agree to help.

In order to infiltrate the place the Princess is disguised as a member of Rap Land and brings in a gold coin that secretly conceals Toad. Unfortunately, when the bag is thrown with the others, Toad squeaks tipping off Rappin' Koopa to their trick. The Princess is captured but Toad is ignored. Mario and Luigi attempt to save the Princess but fail to get in before the doors are closed.

Inside Rappin' Koopa's hideout, Rappin' Koopa has both the Princess and King James tied up on a giant record player. He activates the record player expecting the needle to finish off his prisoners. Fortunately, Toad sneaks in and deactivates the machine when Rappin' Koopa leaves. With both King James and the Princess freed, they return to the Marios who had stopped for lunch. It's determined that they must unplug Rappin' Koopa's source of power and find the giant plug. Mario volunteers to unplug it but is electrocuted when he touches it. The electricity turns him into Super Mario, who successfully gets rid of Rappin' Koopa's power. Rappin' Koopa is none to happy about this and prepares to attack.

Rappin Koopa arrives with a legion of his Koopa Troopas and a squadron of Bob-omb-carrying Albatosses. Fortunately, the heroes had been preparing for the attack. The albatosses are defeated by exploding records launched at them and the Koopa Troopas are bowled away by the Flab Boys. Rappin' Koopa is then defeated and pulls out a Magical Potion, which he uses to create a door to escape through.

With Rappin' Koopa gone, a "new" song is written and all of Rap Land dances to the show's theme song, the "Mario Rap".
