Australia is a real-world country which has made some appearances in the Mario franchise. It is the main part of a continent named Australasia or Oceania, although because Australia takes up a majority of the continent, the name can sometimes refer to the continent itself.
The first time Australia appears in Mario media is the The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "7 Continents for 7 Koopas," in which King Koopa entrusts Cheatsy Koopa with taking over Australia. There, Cheatsy turns all of the inhabitants into Kangaroos, although this curse would later be reversed by Princess Toadstool.
