Athens Dash is a race course in Mario Kart Tour. As its name implies, it is set in Athènai, the capital of Greece, more specifically in the Akrópolis that takes place on top of the mountain overlooking the city, with the new metropolitan area from the modern times restricted to the background. Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Switch features this course as the first course of the fifth wave of the Booster Course Pass.

Layout[]

The course is divided into three zones.

Northern Half of the Akrópolis[]

This region is Athens Dash's central zone, being the highest point in the course. The primary starting line is inside the Párthenon, going along an east-west path. To the west of the Párthenon lies a path heading south branching off the westbound path, with the westbound path heading down a flight of stairs, and farther west is an intersection where the south path leads into a theatre known as the Ōdeîon Herodèsio Attikósio (Odeon of Herodes Atticus), while the west path eventually curves northeast and leads off the Akrópolis.

To the east of the Párthenon, the path heading out curves to the northeast, intersecting a north-south path at an oblique angle, the north-south path itself curving slightly west near the northern end. The terminī of the north-south crossroad lead down cliffs, but the northern terminus has a glider ramp that leads to the area to the north of the Akrópolis, while the southern terminus overlooks a second theatre known as the Théatron Dionusósio (Theatre of Dionysus). Farther east of the intersection, the path loops back to the south, leading to the Apsída Hadriānósio, where a Glider Cannon from the Southern Half of the Akrópolis.

Southern Half of the Akrópolis[]

This region is the course's southernmost section. South of the intersection just to the west of the Párthenon lies another intersection where a path goes west into a tunnel, leading into the Ōdeion Hērodèsio Attikósio (Odeon of Herodes Atticus) from the southeast, while another path goes southeast and curves to the east, heading to some ruins. The east-west road has another, the intersection itself being north of the Odeon; a path branches off to the south, heading southeast and cutting through the Odeon and going through a tunnel. There is a split path to the north, which leads onto the seats of the Théatron Dionusósio (Theatre of Dionysus), while a path that heads east and then makes a left turn to the north approaches the theatre from the south. The opposite end of the seats has a path that heads south and then loops around back to the north, leading to a Glider Cannon that leads to the Apsída Hadriānósio (Hadrian's Arch).

Off the Akrópolis[]

There is a winding road that leads off the Akrópolis, and the northern terminus of the cross-road just to the east of the Párthenon has a Glide Ramp that racers can use to fly over to Monastiráki Street. The path loops back to the southwest, meeting up with the winding road. Boulders go down the winding road.

Routes[]

The first route of Athens Dash brings the Théatron Dionusósio (Theatre of Dionysus) and the Apsída Hadriānósio (Hadrian's Arch) into focus. The second route goes off the mountain, although the racers will have to contend with boulders. The third route involves another theatre called the Ōdeîon Hērodèsio Attikósio (Odeon of Herodes Atticus) as well as the Théatron Dionusósio.

The Booster Course Pass features the track's first route for the first lap, the third route for the second lap, and the second route for the final lap.
