Mario Party

Amplifried is a single-player minigame in Mario Party Advance.

Layout[]

Amplifried takes place on a circular platform sticking out of the lava along with some brown rocks. The environment has no effect on the minigame, and is only intended for aesthetic.

Opening[]

Two of the four Amps are about to shoot electricity between each other at the character, who moves before they can be blasted.

Gameplay[]

The Amps line up and fire electricity at one another, similar to the Mario Party 5 minigame Shock Absorbers. Amplifried has no time limit, and is a survival mini-game in which the player's character has to avoid touching the electrical blast generated between Amps for as long as possible. The character can only move around, not jump. The player earns ten points each time their character avoids being zapped by a blast, but they can earn more points the closer they stand to an electrical blast. After each blast, the Amps move around the board to generate another electrical blast. As time passes, more Amps fire electricity between each other, covering more of the arena.

In Shroom City mode, the player has to earn at least 300 points to win, while in Mini-Game Attack, the total is 1,000 points. In both cases, the minigame ends once the character becomes electrocuted.

Behind the scenes[]

Etymology[]

  • The minigame's name is a portmanteau of "amplify" and "fried," with the latter word referring to the Amps' capability of electrocuting a character.
