Air Cheeps are a variant of Cheep Cheep which appear in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its Nintendo 3DS remake Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. They are under the influence of the Dark Star. Air Cheeps are only encountered in the Airway of Bowser's body, so they are only fought by either Mario or Luigi.
Physical description[]
As their name implies, Air Cheeps are purple Cheep Cheeps with a light purple, round, inflated body. The creature has wings in place of its fins and a yellow cork on its head to keep the air from flowing out of the body. It has a black star-shaped pattern around its eyes to indicate its loyalty to the Dark Star.
Combat[]
Air Cheeps cannot be hurt by the regular Hammer, the Green Shell Special Attack, or the Snack Basket's shockwave due to their ability to fly in their normal form. Other attacks, like the standard Jump, can hit them, however. In the event that it loses its cork, the Air Cheep can be hit by just about any attack.
Air Cheeps can fly above their target to fall on him or puff up and roll backwards into him; this must be countered by smashing them via the Hammer. The Air Cheep's first attack can be performed multiple times, especially if their target fails to counterattack. If their cork is smashed during their second attack, the creatures deflate. When this happens, they fall to the ground and get the Dizzy status effect, which wears off when the creatures replace their cork.
An Air Cheep is a Level 27 monster with 236 hit points, an Attack Power of 126, a Defense of 88, and a Speed of 121, with double chances of getting stunned and regular chances of being burned or getting weakened attributes and taking normal damage from fire. When slain, it gives 600 Experience and 75 Coins. Its loot has a 3 in 20 chance to have a Max Mushroom and a 3 in 10 chance to have a Max Syrup Jar.
