We begin in a tundra with ice scattered across. A cold wind blows, revealing a giant palace and metropolitan city, both made of solid ice. We see a few penguins waddling about the city. One penguin buys a wooly hat at a Crazy Cap store. One penguin is sitting at a table with a glass of ice water. The water in his cup starts to shake (Jurassic Park style). The penguins look up in horror. A giant fortress made of molten lava and rock approaches the city. Magma falls on the ground. Fire falls down on the snow as Bowser's fortress approaches the ice palace. Giant spike balls on chains fall down, shattering the ice.

PENGUIN #1: Oh no! Not good! Not good at all!

PENGUIN #1: My King, the Koopas have arrived!

PENGUIN KING: Call the army into battle.

The rock fortress lowers down onto the ground, crushing the city. The fortress stop right in front of the palace. An army of Koopa Troopas run out of the fortress, into a single file formation. Paratroopas join the army out in the snow. With a burst of magenta colored magic, Kamek appears behind them.

KAMEK: Behold! The king of the Koopas!

Koopa Troopas salute as Bowser appears and walks out to the front of the palace.

BOWSER: Open the gates! Or die.

The gates open slowly. A giant shadow appears in the fog. A Koopa Troopa looks scared of the creatures in the fog. But the creatures are only tiny penguins.

KOOPA TROOPA: What?

The penguins prepare for battle.

PENGUIN KING: Attack!

PENGUIN: Yaaaaaah!

The penguins run out and start throwing snowballs at Bowser. He is barely hit and looks unimpressed. A penguin rolls out a catapult with a ice cube in it. He tosses it at Kamek, who telepathically throws the ice back toward a penguin and knocks them out.

PENGUIN KING: Halt.

The penguins stop.

PENGUIN KING: That is but a taste of our fury. Do you yield?

BOWSER: I do not.

He motions to Kamek, who lifts all the penguins up off the road with his magic, and tosses them out into the Koopa army. He approaches the palace, and destroys it with his fire breath, sending a flood of water passing through the ground, into a Warp Pipe. When the smoke clears, Bowser dries his hair and grins at the glowing yellow light.

PENGUIN KING: No.

BOWSER: Team, take the prisoners back to the fortress.

KOOPA GENERAL: Yes, sir.

BOWSER: Kamek?

Kamek telepathically creates a bridge out of shattered debris from the ice palace, which Bowser climbs up to get to the top. There is large yellow box with a exclamation mark on it. Bowser punches the box with all his might and it cracks open. Inside is a Power Star.

BOWSER: I've found the next Power Star. Soon enough no one will be able to stop me!

And that's the first part of the rewrite. Other than adding a bit more depth to the penguins as characters who live in a functioning society and making it clear that Bowser is looking for power stars, this scene was pretty good, all things considered. I hope you enjoyed this!

So in Mario Kart there is a Mirror Mode, so what if in the next game they introduced an “Upside-down Mode”?
